How to set up a mic and mic stand for home studio?

Hello. I've been writing lyrics down for quite some time now and I would just like to know how it would sound if i actually converted it into spoken lyrics. Its just something out of curiosity so I'm not looking for anything too expensive or complicated. It would be nice just to get creative, write some songs down and say them and then go to the computer to listen, thats all.
