Will I be independent living at home?

One of the things I most looked forward for in college was independence. We can't afford for me to live in the dorms though. Will I feel independent living at home? I feel like I might because my mom and I made an agreement that the entire lower floor of the house was mine, no one can enter without my permission. But, I feel like I won't because I'm sure that my little sister will not heed those rules. What do you think?
